Amari’s Adventures is a children’s book about a little girl who goes on an adventure and along the way counts uniquely South African birds, animals, trees and objects. The brightly illustrated book is interactive as children reading it are asked to count the number of objects that Amari walks past. It aims to foster a love of reading, numbers and nature through the bold colours, large numbers and beautiful landscapes. The book showcases South Africa’s national symbols and celebrates the bright clothing, landscape and unique beauty of the country, using national symbols such as the protea, galjoen fish and yellowwood trees.
The book has been translated into all 11 South African languages, plus Nama, spoken by the Nama or Khoikhoi people.
